My Review - 4 of 5 stars -

This was Elin's story. Her charge was Rangvald. She was more honest about the plans for the men. She couldn't take advantage of him though. He fell quickly even though she did leave him alone when she was mad at him. He accepted her for who she was, including her use of tarot cards. I enjoyed their interactions and this story. I wait for the next installment in this series to see how it all works out.

The narration by Gareth J. Davies was, once again, a delight as he brought this island and all its inhabitants to life.

This is my unsolicited review.

My Review - 4 of 5 stars -

This story was full of grit, steam, survival, and love. There were no men left to protect and care for Hedda and her family and friends. For quite a while, they were alone and learned how to survive. Fate brought Eldberg and a few of his men to their island. Hedda's past dictated how she treated Eldberg, especially as she learned about power. Eldberg was gruff but willing to put up with Hedda's treatment of him, planning on his revenge, until he lost his heart to her. Hedda fought her emotions and feelings but finally acknowledged her love. It took me a bit to like Hedda, but overall, this was a good story.

The narration by Gareth J. Davies brought life to these characters, and he did a wonderful job keeping the many different personalities separate.

This is my unsolicited review.

My Review - 4 1/2 of 5 stars -

4 1/2 stars. This was a good story. Wren was very territorial about her clinic and patients. Now a family had been brought into her town for their own protection, and she had to deal with Drake up close and personal. He was arrogant, frustrated, and felt unwanted. An emergency gave him an opportunity to show how well they could work together. Then the heat turned up. I enjoyed this introduction to the Kershaw family. There was humor, grit, and love galore.

The duet narration of Grace Grant and Patrick Zeller enhanced this entertaining story. Both brought life to the characters along with all of their emotions. Well done.

I was given this story, and this is my unsolicited review.

Audiobook Challenge 2023 results

At the beginning of this challenge, I chose 20-30 audiobooks. Well, I surprised myself by finishing with 39. On my blog, I have 39, but in Goodreads it only shows 38. Somewhere I missed something in shelving. Following is a list of all audiobook posts from this blog.

I am doing the Audiobook Challenge for 2024, keeping the same goal. I will try to do a better job in keeping track of the audiobooks on Goodreads and this blog. If you enjoy audiobooks, challenge yourself in 2024.

Goodreads: Lord of Devil Isle by Connie Mason | Goodreads

My Review - 4 of 5 stars -

I found this to be an interesting story. I loved the atmosphere of Bermuda and on the sea. Eve had a secret and horrible past, yet she seemed so innocent. Nick was generous and kind with his crew and friends, and he saw only the good in Eve once he got past her prickly side. I also enjoyed the secondary characters supporting both Eve and Nick. It was fun.

The narration by Marian Hussey was well done. Her range of voices was very entertaining, and I enjoyed her emotional range.

This is my unsolicited review.

My Review - 5 of 5 stars -

This story kept me reading. Adeline was a delight with her determination to run her life her way, to stay independent. I also loved how she went against expectations. Lyon was so patient with her though he did have his designs on her. The attraction between them was strong and good for both. I enjoyed the other widows as well and look forward to their stories. I recommend this story.

I purchased the audiobook and found the story just as engaging. The narration by Jessica Bolte enriched the tale, and again, I did not want to stop listening.

My Review - 5 of 5 stars -

I read the book back in 2015 and recently bought the audiobook. I really enjoyed the story both times. The connection between Eli and Ashley was hot and strong. Each was willing to do anything necessary to protect the other, even give up their freedom. The story, of course, will carry on into the series, and I look forward to catching up with this world of angels, archangels, and demons.

The narration by Tom Zadoyko was wonderful. He had quite a range with the voices and was very entertaining. I enjoyed listening to him.

This is my unsolicited review.

Audiobook Review: The Pirate (Ladies and Legends #1) by Jayne Ann Krentz

Blurb

Historical romance novelist Kate Inskip needs a break. Divorced, overworked, and completely stressed out, her writing buddies decide to surprise her with exactly what she needs--a vacation on a remote island that boasts a rich history and a crumbling castle built by an 18th century pirate. It’s the kind of story Kate can’t possibly pass up and it will allow her to turn her thoughts from the reality of today to the romance of the past. But things don't go according to plan. A long flight, lost luggage, and a missed connection leave Kate wishing she’d stayed home. A knife-wielding mugger is the last straw.

Too late to help, but just in time to enjoy the show, Jared Hawthorne catches a harried woman in the act of kicking the local thief into submission. As far as Jared is concerned, Kate is the most interesting tourist to arrive on Amethyst Island in a very long time. Kate, however, has already concluded that a month-long vacation on the island is about thirty days too long. Still, Jared Hawthorne is starting to look very familiar...

My Review - 4 of 5 stars -

This was a fun story which I enjoyed while listening to the audiobook. Kate was surprised with a month-long retreat. She found her very own arrogant, secretive pirate. Jared owned the resort and more, but he had a secret which he tried to keep from Kate. Curiosity led her to dangerous situations and revelations for Jared. Their connection was instant and strong, and inspiring for Kate's writing.

The narration by Wendy Tremont King did the story justice. I enjoyed her intonations and variation on the voices. Definitely worth the listen.

This is my unsolicited review.

Audiobook Review: Fall in Kentbury (Kentbury Tales #2) by Claudia Burgoa

Blurb

USA Today bestselling author Claudia Burgoa invites you back to the small town of Kentbury with this swoony novella where frenemies become lovers and the failed one-night stands might last for more than a season.

Everything is falling apart.

But before I embark into the unknown, I head to Kentbury.

Someone has to warn my paternal grandmother that her son wants to leave her destitute.

And who do I find instead?

Tall, hot, and delicious Bishop Harris.

My failed one-night stand.

He’s trying to run me out of town.

But between the autumn festivals, apple picking, and hard cider, things get a lot more interesting

I go from trying to avoid the small town to wondering if I can spend more than Fall in Kentbury.

My Review - 4 of 5 stars -

Mckay needed to get away from her family and went to warn her grandmother in Kentbury about some underhanded deals. What she found was more support and love than she had known before. Bishop was not keen on meeting Mckay, also wanting to protect her grandmother, so loved by the community. They find themselves doing all the town activities and festivals, and find love for each other. This was a fun story.

Grace Grant and Joe Arden were excellent in bringing out the personalities of Mckay and Bishop in the audiobook version. The emotions and inflections were well done.

This is my unsolicited review.

My Review - 4 of 5 stars -

(2023 edition) Knightly (Lee) wanted to move out of Kentbury to get away from her feelings for her best friend, Landon, and his daughter. I loved how hard Landon fought his own feelings until his daughter helped him realize that there was nothing wrong with keeping Lee in their lives. This was a cute story, and I enjoyed it.

I listened to the audiobook, and the narration by Teddy Hamilton and Muffy Newtown was very well done. They brought the characters to life and added very much to the story.

Audiobook Review: Highlanders Never Surrender (Wicked Willful Highlanders #2) by Julie Johnstone, narrator Tim Campbell

Blurb

On the path of vengeance, he unwillingly collided with love.

No one desires retribution against their enemy more than Highlander Cormac MacLean. Yet his foe has the favor of the king and Cormac lacks irrefutable proof of the man’s nefarious deeds, so revenge must be planned with calculated care. But when Cormac’s hot-headed brother impulsively attempts to kidnap their enemy’s stepsister, Cormac finds himself fleeing with the wounded beauty after she sustains an injury trying to protect him. He has every intention of returning the troublesome lass to her home, until it quickly becomes apparent that she may be the one person who can free his sister from the dark place in which she dwells. At every turn, the strong-willed woman shows bravery and loyalty, and instead of wanting to keep her at a distance as vows given and family allegiance demands he must, he aches to touch her, protect her, and possess her forever.

Desperate to escape her impending wedding to a suspected murderer, Brigid Campbell is not exactly dismayed when she’s snatched from her stepbrother’s clutches by a Scottish barbarian who she incidentally ends up saving from an arrow aimed at his heart. Still, when she awakens from her injury at Cormac’s home, she is quite upset that her dearest companion was left behind to face the wrath of her stepbrother. So, when her overbearing captor announces he’ll be keeping her to assist his sister, she makes a demand of her own—he must help her rescue her companion. When the officious man refuses, she takes matters into her own hands bringing her the startling discovery that behind the Highlander’s mask of dislike for her lies a compellingly complex man who willingly charges into peril to save her. At each brush with danger that ensues, he’s there to aid her, filling her with hope that despite the feud that brought them together, she may have finally found a family to belong to and a man to trust and to give her heart.

Brigid fuels Cormac’s desire and makes him question his oaths, but it takes his enemy making a master move for him to face the truth that since the day he met Brigid, there could only ever be one choice for him—banish his ghosts, silence his guilt, and show the woman he loves unquestionably that she is his and he is hers—if only it’s not too late.

My Review - 5 of 5 stars -

Another story that kept me reading/listening. Brigid was determined to get away from her family. Cormac and his family wanted revenge on that same family. An impromptu kidnapping brought both sides together and allowed for a mending. I loved how Cormac taught Brigid to swim and more despite the distrust between them. When necessary, he protected her. I enjoyed Brigid as she tried to better herself, accepting the caring from Cormac's clan, and wanting to share her knowledge.

The narration of Tim Campbell was as wonderful as always. I enjoyed listening to the different personalities as he read.

This is my unsolicited review.
