Ebook Review: The Duke's Forbidden Romance (High Society Secrets #1) by Wendy May Andrews

Blurb

Betrothed to the last man she would ever wish to marry?

Since her own father didn’t care about her, Lady Cordelia knows she must marry to secure her sisters’ future. When the search for a wealthy gentleman ends in a scandalous kiss with a handsome but unwanted duke, the ton’s censure rains down upon her.

If the duke adds another rejection, she’s ruined, and her sisters with her.

One kiss has turned Alexander Harrington, the sixth Duke of Westbridge’s plans upside-down. His only desire has been to run the country until that young miss hijacked his self-control with a passionate kiss that threatens to ruin his personal and political goals.

If their fake betrothal of convenience falls apart, both their futures will be consumed by scandal.

If you love the pomp and Regency of Bridgerton and the sweetness of When Calls the Heart, then you’ll adore Wendy May Andrews’ new charming and swoony Secrets of High Society series.

My Review - 4 of 5 stars -

This was an intriguing story with lots of secrets, gossip, and underhandedness while Cordelia and Alexander discover more about each other. I loved Cordelia's independence, intelligence, and caring heart. She was loyal to her sisters. Alexander was very set in his ways until a conversation with Cordelia had him rethinking his stance. It took a while before either would admit to feelings, and sneaky events pushed them apart. I had tears at the end as they expressed their true feelings. I did feel that there was too much description at times as well as, I felt, too much reiteration on Alexander's old stance on issues and how they would affect the situation they were in.

I received a copy through Booksprout, and this is my unsolicited review.
