My Review - 5 of 5 stars -

One Good Wager Leads to Another - 5 stars - I loved Thisbe. She was intelligent and brave for being on her own. She felt the oddness of the housekeeper but was still willing to keep her employed. Gervaise was quite a prankster but became very protective of Thisbe. I enjoyed it.

My Gift to You - 5 stars - This was a chance for Gaby and Leo to truly figure out their feelings for each other. There were misunderstanding surrounding their marriage, and trust needed to be strengthened.

Falling into You - 4 stars - This is another opportunity for a reunion. Milton left Josephine but returned for a second chance. He did grovel to show he truly loved her.

Sir Westcott Steals a Heart - 4 stars - Smuggling and family featured in this story. Sybil was unusual as tall as she was, catching Wes's attention. He wanted to protect her and her brothers.

A Duke in Peril -5 stars - Florence found and took care of James when she came upon him, though misunderstanding stood between them. James wanted to keep his identity secret to keep everyone safe.

Stolen Kisses - 4 stars - In the past, Lance accidentally ruined Emma before heading off to war. Emma never got over it, but I loved how she remained strong, planning on staying single. Lance worked for her love, even making a similar mistake to prove himself.

Charred Hope - 5 stars - This one touched my heart. Titus ended up locating Tessa to return a locket that her late husband had left behind. He was reluctant to carry out the task but was glad he did. Tessa was strong to continue her life, scraping a life together. Love pulled them together.

Love by Moonlight - 5 stars - Highwaymen and a vicar's daughter come together. Robin was so determined to help injured parties. After spending time with Robin, Rachel began to suspect a dual life.

Forever and Always - 5 stars - Fontus and Dee began with a secret marriage of convenience in France and then separated. Now danger and parental expectations force these two to consider staying together and admitting the truth or not.

A Bend in the Road - 4 stars - This story was about Justin and Felicity, both mentioned in Robin's story, who had previous feelings for each other. I was glad to see how their story progressed. Felicity was outspoken and determined to not marry the wrong man. Justin had his secrets and doubts that he could be the right man for her.

Throughout all the stories were hints and actions of the Bow Street Runner searching for the female highway robber and Captain Moonlight. At one point, I sort of lost the timeline of all the stories since they all weaved, but I truly enjoyed this collection.

Book Review: The Secret Book Society by Madeline Martin

Blurb

A captivating new historical novel from Madeline Martin, set in Victorian London about a forbidden book club, dangerous secrets, and the women who dare to break free.

You are cordially invited to the Secret Book Society…

London, 1895: Trapped by oppressive marriages and societal expectations, three women receive a mysterious invitation to an afternoon tea at the home of the reclusive Lady Duxbury. Beneath the genteel facade of the gathering lies a secret book club—a sanctuary where they can discover freedom, sisterhood, and the courage to rewrite their stories.

Lavinia Cavendish, an artistic young woman haunted by a dangerous family secret. All are drawn to the enigmatic Lady Duxbury, a thrice-widowed countess whose husbands’ untimely deaths have sparked whispers of murder.

As the women form deep, heartwarming friendships, they uncover secrets about their marriages, their pasts, and the risks they face. Their courage is their only weapon in the oppressive world that has kept them silent, but when secrets are deadly, one misstep could cost them everything.

My Review - 4 1/2 of 5 stars -

4 1/2 stars. I enjoyed this story with one lady helping other ladies find ways to their happiness and safety. Lady Duxbury used her own past experiences to guide Eleanor, Lavinia, and Rose to better lives. As they all became the best of friends, I was compelled to keep reading, enjoying the growth of all four ladies. The journal entries were an interesting way to provide some history. There were times where I felt the story got a little bogged down with too much detail. Overall, a good book.

Book Review: Creed (Satan's Fury MC - Little Rock Chapter) by L. Wilder

Blurb

New York Times and USA Today Best Seller L. Wilder brings a story for readers who like their alpha men loyal, their stakes high, and their love worth fighting for.

Satan’s Fury was my life.
It always had been. Always would be.
But it came with its sacrifices.
Lots of them.
Blood, sweat, and tears were just the beginning.
Hell, I’d traded pieces of my soul to get us where we are today.
And I’d do it all again.
But if I had the chance, I’d do it without losing her.

She was my everything, and I let her slip through my fingers.
It was the mistake of a lifetime.
I’d fought for my club.
I’d fought for my brothers.

Now, it was time to fight for her.

Creed is a standalone MC romance with a group of foul-mouthed, possessive alphas who will do whatever it takes to protect the women they love. No cliffhanger and no cheating. Enjoy the ride!

My Review - 5 of 5 stars -

A second chance at love surrounded by unhappiness and danger. Devin and Creed were together, and then they made the decision to go their own ways. Devin's life changed the most with marriage and children, and divorce. I loved her strength to leave the unhappiness behind and that she had enough love to cover for her ex with the children, despite what he put her through. Fate intervened and brought them back to each other. As Creed tried to protect Devin, they discovered how interconnected a lot of the danger was. Very steamy and emotional at times. I was very touched how the children worked through the truth about their lives. A very good read.

Book Review: The Rhythm of Falling by Mandi Raines

Blurb

He's a superstar on the run. She's a hidden talent with a shattered past. In Sweetlove, their colliding worlds might just create the perfect harmony.

Gia Krane was once the next big thing in music until betrayal shattered her trust, and a corrupt label left her career in ruins. She walked away from that life years ago.

Country music superstar Wyatt Cade has everything: fame, fortune, and a wildly successful indie label. But after the tragic death of his best friend on tour, the music that once saved him has gone silent. Seeking inspiration and solitude, he escapes to the quiet town of Sweetlove Mountain, hoping to find peace…and maybe himself.

What he finds instead is her.

Gia’s voice stops him cold. Her presence is electric. And her eyes say she wants nothing to do with him.

But Wyatt isn’t just a cowboy with charm. He’s a man who knows pain when he sees it. And Gia’s fire might be the one thing that can reignite his music and heal them both. When a chance collaboration sparks undeniable chemistry, their duet becomes something deeper.

But trust doesn’t come easy, and the ghosts of their pasts aren’t done haunting them yet.

The Rhythm of Falling is a swoony, emotional romance about healing, hope, and finding your voice again.

My Review - 5 of 5 stars -

This was a quick read, and I did not want to stop reading. Gia had been hurt and used in the past, creating a shell around herself. She only dabbled in music in a smaller way. In came Wyatt, and he stirred up her emotions and dreams. The chemistry between them was off the charts, though Gia was hesitant. The music in them flowed naturally and helped them heal and bond. There were moments of tears and smiles. Loved it.

Book Review: Baller by S.L. Hannah

Blurb

Lena Griffin thought she had it all—glamorous job, gorgeous home, picture-perfect marriage. But at nearly forty, her life is unraveling fast. Divorcing, disillusioned, and questioning everything, she needs a reset. Not another relationship. Definitely not love.

Enter Josh. Twenty-eight, insanely hot, and a pro volleyball player with a body built for sin and a smile that could wreck a woman on sight. Their chemistry is instant. Off-the-charts. Completely unexpected.

Their fling is supposed to be temporary, just a little fun to shake off the dust. But Josh surprises her. He’s grounded, kind, and somehow exactly what she didn’t know she needed.

He’s younger. She’s cautious. And they’re both playing way out of bounds.

But when passion turns into something deeper, Lena has to decide if she’s brave enough to risk her heart on the kind of love that doesn’t play by the rules.

Content Warning: This story contains sensitive themes, including pregnancy loss. Reader discretion is advised.

My Review - 4 of 5 stars -

This was a love story of an older woman and a younger man. I enjoyed it with Josh's genuine caring for Lena even when he was frightened by the feeling. Lena's current situation was precarious with her feelings and thoughts, and Josh provided something that made her life a little brighter. A fun story, but for me, a little too much waffling back and forth, dragging it out a bit too much. Still worth the read.

My Review - 5 of 5 stars -

This was full of action, surprises, and love. Terin was a loner, not knowing where she truly came from. She gave into her wolf but never went far. One night, that changed when she rescued Rafe and helped him heal. From there, her life became topsy turvy with danger, hunters, and a past coming at her. Rafe could not believe he was alive, and he could not deny his connection with Terin. He took her safety seriously and introduced her to his pack. As danger followed, he did everything he could to protect her. Loved this story and need to read more in the series.

Book Review: Unholy Cross (Deadly and Ruthless #1) by Beth D. Carter

Blurb

Aera Cross is a man forged by hardship. His childhood, marred by pain and abuse, has left him with scars that run deeper than the skin. Survival has been his only mantra, that he’s learned to navigate with a hardened heart. But when a desperate father approaches him with a plea to rescue his ‘daughter’ from the clutches of a sadistic doctor, Cross finds himself at a crossroads.

The photo of Lorelei, a girl with an ethereal beauty, ignites something within him—a flicker of hope amidst the darkness. Lorelei possesses a gift that is both a blessing and a curse. But this extraordinary ability has made her a target, sold to the highest bidder and forced to perform for those who seek to exploit her. Each transaction chips away at her soul, leaving her a mere shadow of the girl she once was.

On the night of her daring escape, Lorelei stumbles into Cross’s world. Though she is wary of this rugged stranger, she has no choice but to trust him. Together, they embark on a perilous journey, where danger lurks at every corner and the lines between savior and sinner blur.

I enjoyed this story. It was full of grit, steam, love, and danger. Lorelei was special and treated without regard, with violence. Cross was paying penance for all his misdeeds in the past, including the loss of his position within his MC. Their journey together was full of danger, threats, pain, pleasure, and love. Lorelei had heart, courage, defiance, and trust in the right people. Cross had to trust family in order to help himself and Lorelei. I look forward to more in this series.

Book Review: Grandma's Bucket of Mercy by Robin Carole

Blurb

You are never too old or too young to learn life's lessons.

Multiple award-winning author Robin Carole shares another heartwarming and true story, Grandma's Bucket of Mercy. This story of family, love, and forgiveness will resonate with all ages. Discover the definition of mercy through a life lesson that shows how a simple act of kindness can have the greatest impact on a person's life.

A generation has passed since Carole's grandmother and mother survived the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression of the 1930s in her story, Firewood and Christmas Potatoes. Now ten-year-old Carole will spend a brief summer vacation with her grandmother during the 1960s. Carole's grandmother sends her on an adventure that involves the neighbor who lives in the apartment directly behind her.

Young Carole does not immediately understand the importance of this unusual assignment and how it will reshape an old man's life. Four years later, Carole finally grasps the meaning and magnitude of mercy when a family member of the old man shares how these anonymous deeds changed the old man's life before his passing.

Carole's grandmother knew the value of teaching this epochal lesson of mercy-a lesson that transformed her old neighbor and enlightened her young granddaughter.

Grandma's Bucket of Mercy is a beautifully illustrated story for every child and for the childlike spirit in every adult.

This story touched my heart while it taught a different way to be kind to others. I loved the message that kindness is not done for a reward. The lesson was taught through requests and actions, with a surprising end that was uplifting and tearful. A wonderful story to read to young people and promote kindness to others. Wouldn't hurt for adults to read it either. I loved it. The illustrations by Sally Fantasia and the cover by Aimee Croteau were wonderful additions to this book. Well done.

Book Review: Whip (MorningStar MC: New Orleans #6) by D. Williams

Blurb

Five years ago, I found the missing piece of my soul.

I returned to Roanoke, VA, with a hole in my chest that only my missing sister could fill. She was the reason I joined the club, and after years of looking, my brothers delivered on their promise to help me rescue her.

What I found when I arrived there was so much more.

Leaving and going home to help my sister regain a life stolen from her was the only mission I had left, and now that it was complete, I realized I had forgotten about my own life in the process.

Convincing myself that I didn’t deserve my own happiness is a penance I will happily deal with in silence as long as the people I love are safe.

But when my past comes knocking, looking for help, I realize just how much I left behind all those years ago.

This was a very steamy, very entertaining, quick read. Lulu and Brice/Whip had a past. When they come across each other again, there was a little something more, Wyatt. Book Review: Lady Cordelia's Scarred Soldier (The Riddle Sisters #4) by Jennifer Monroe

Blurb

From USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Monroe comes a swoon-worthy Regency romance where secrets, scars, and a single spark ignite the most unexpected love.

As the most unconventional of the Riddle sisters, Lady Cordelia has never cared for polished manners or society’s expectations. Climbing trees and chasing down wayward piglets suit her far more than embroidery and polite conversation. When she discovers a hidden note inside an antique goblet, one that leads to a man tied to her late parents’ past, she sets off for London. There, she crosses paths with a guarded scholar who wants nothing to do with adventure.

Vincent Barringer, the reclusive third son of an earl, has found peace within the quiet halls of the Society of Antiquaries. Haunted by his years at war, he prefers books to people and silence to society. Cordelia’s sudden arrival, full of questions and determined energy, disturbs the careful order he has built. Before long, he is drawn into a mystery that threatens to upend everything he thought he knew.

As they follow the trail of a long-buried conspiracy tied to the secretive Order of the Silver Star, Cordelia and Vincent must learn to trust one another if they hope to uncover the truth. Yet trust does not come easily, especially for a battle-scarred soldier or a young woman who has never let anyone truly close.

With danger mounting and secrets unraveling, will these unlikely partners find more than answers in each other? Or will the truth cost them the future neither ever dared to imagine?

The fourth book in The Riddle Sisters series, Lady Cordelia’s Scarred Soldier is a heartwarming Regency romance filled with intrigue, loyalty, and a love that grows where it is least expected.

My Review - 5 of 5 stars -

I loved this story, the connection between Cordelia and Vincent as well as the hunt for the truth. Cordelia had such a spirit, preferred a more rustic outlook, but she also was determined and intelligent, and delightful. Vincent was so hurt by the past, his experiences in the war, as well as a lower self-confidence. As he spent time with Cordelia, he learned more about himself and gained an enthusiasm for the treasure hunt. Danger headed their way, but they found safety and love.
