Blurb:
The boy she used to love is now the man she can't escape...
Emily Peterson has spent years building up the walls that protect her heart. After a tragedy shattered her world, she learned the only way to survive was to stay guarded. But her walls have a single, handsome weakness: Alec Yarborough.
Alec isn't just a reminder of Emily's painful past. He's the person who's been there for every milestone. As her brother's best friend, he was always off-limits. As the man who knows her better than she knows herself, he's the only one who can reach her well-defended heart.
When a coworker's disappearance forces Emily to go undercover and confront the conspiracy that tore her family apart, Alec refuses to let her go alone. He's always been protective, but he's never been so close. As they dive deep into the shadows together, the tightly drawn line between friendship and simmering desire finally snaps.
Every shared glance carries a decade of unspoken words. Every touch is a reminder of the questions they've had to bury. But in the midst of a deadly investigation, Emily realizes the greatest risk isn't the mission. It's finally surrendering to the man who has always held her heart.
Publisher's Note: Wicked Games is the second book in the Dark Refuge series. It is a spicy, suspense-filled romance with adult themes containing power exchange. It also has an organized crime/trafficking subplot and includes graphic violence which may be disturbing to some.

My Review - 4 of 5 stars -
Emily, through her connection to Alec, explored her tastes in a safe way after she had a taste through her job. She was hesitant but willing. Alec was drawn to her and knew he wanted to be with her. Through everything happening between them, love and danger found a way to test them and strengthen their relationship. I loved their chemistry and Alec's protection of Emily. A good story with plenty of steam and suspense.
I received a copy through 1852Media, and this is my unsolicited review.
