The chemistry between Carol and Humbug was very strong. This story felt a bit like a love triangle, but Humbug was trying to divorce his wife, and Carol had trouble committing to her boyfriend. Humbug was protective of Carol, but when secrets came out and danger surrounded Carol, she did not want his protection. I loved how she had the strength to disappear and survive on her own. The danger she escaped found her along with Humbug watching from the shadows. Their journey to an HEA was worth the read.
