Blurb:
Detective Nate Thompson has left his home in the Northwest for America’s heartland to solve a murder. His reason could not be more gut-wrenching--it was his own beloved wife Clarissa who was killed when she was back in the Midwest visiting her family.
He joins up with the local police force there to find whoever committed the crime, but as the investigation widens, he gets dragged into the discovery of drug and jewel theft rings in the area. Impatient with how slow the operation is taking, his rage builds as he thinks time is being wasted pinpointing the murder suspect.
After encountering numerous roadblocks in unfamiliar terrain, he comes to realize how dark and twisted the flat landscape can be when everything leads back to family secrets. Will he be able to deal with what’s finally exposed? And will he have to return home never having caught Clarissa’s killer?

My Review - 4 of 5 stars -
I enjoyed this story. A detective, Nate, went on a hunt for his wife's killer. He got more than he bargained for and lost patience with the local police. There were plenty of twists and surprises as he looked for every clue and suspect he could find. Nate was determined, kind, and intelligent. I really enjoyed the story and look forward to the next in the series.
This is my unsolicited review.
