It wouldn't hurt to flirt with her a little to make sure that we stayed on good terms, so Tyler and I would be in business together. But I couldn't flirt too much, because hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. And something told me that Meredith scorned would be the ultimate fury.
She set down her drink on the low table. She’d blown past tipsy and was approaching full on drunk.
"I think these drinks are hitting me harder because I had a concussion a couple of days ago.”
"Or because you had three quarters of a bottle of wine at lunch," I said.
She put her hand over her mouth and laughed. "I forgot about that," she slurred. Then, she pointed her finger at me and said, “Now you get to be right. Isn’t it fun?” Her finger grazed my chest.
My dick twitched at her touch.
She let out a sigh and scooted closer to me. An icy breeze blew across the patio. Meredith shivered.
I raised my hand and pulled her close. She snuggled into my side to get warm. She felt good.
We sat together in silence. I sipped the last of my cocktail and stared out at the ocean.
This was nice. Relaxing even. I looked down at her. Her cheek rested on my chest.
I kissed the top of her head. Maybe I was tipsier than I thought. She turned her head and looked up at me.
Our faces were inches apart. Her pupils were wide, and her full lips parted.
I leaned down and kissed her without even thinking about it.
Her entire body relaxed into mine as if to say, take me. I pulled her tighter as she parted her lips to let me in.
Instinct took over. I craved more, and every signal I was getting from her was a green light.
With one arm around her shoulder and my other hand reaching for her breast, I pushed her against the back of the booth so I could kiss and touch her more.
As I toyed with her nipple through her shirt, she moaned and kissed me back even more deeply.
My hand drifted lower. Just as I was un-tucking her shirt, my phone rang.
The sound instantly sobered me. Both of us broke the kiss at the same moment, horrified.
I grabbed my phone and looked at it. I turned to Meredith. "It's Tyler!"
She put her hand over her face and said, "We forgot his lunch."

My Review - 4 of 5 stars -

A fun read. Meredith was intelligent and had a good heart, though she had her self-doubts that hindered her somewhat. Nick had been hurt by his family in the past, and this kept him from enjoying his life. His drive was something to admire even while he tried to get his life straightened out. I enjoyed the humorous aspects of the story and cheered when these two finally worked it out. I did feel that the story was a bit too drawn out but was very happy with their journey ending together the way it did.
