EXCERPT:

A few hours and a slice of Chicago deep dish later and Leti was working. At least she was trying to work. Her eyes were fighting the carbs to stay open.

She leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes. Unfortunately, the carbs were winning. She just needed to keep her eyes open. The further she dug, the more she hated this guy and his whole “charity”.

The numbers usually didn’t lie. And they didn’t lie here either, but so far they didn’t make sense. She could see most of the money going to the offshore accounts. A small amount actually went to the children’s homes. She was still tracking those offshore accounts, but it wasn’t looking good.

She needed more help.

“I need a drink.” Danni’s slippered feet shuffled down the stairs and across the office to Leti’s desk.

“You were just the person I was thinking of.” Leti lifted her head, but it felt like a chore.

Danni’s hand flew to her lips and started to tap. “Good thoughts or bad thoughts?”

“Depends what type of drink were you thinking, and are you going to get me one?”

“Coffee.” Danni tsked as if it was obvious and waved her wrist. “And heck yeah.”

“Then they were good thoughts.”

Danni moved the chair in front of Leti’s desk to the far edge. She dropped down to the seat and plopped her Ren and Stimpy slippers on Maggie’s desk. The only reason Leti didn’t complain was because Danni knew not to put her feet, slippered or not, on Leti’s desk. Ever. “If I said I wasn’t going to get you a drink?”

“Definitely bad thoughts.”

“That’s impressive how you knew what to think before I told you my intentions.”

“I’m honing my ESP.” Leti tapped her head.

Who is Vanessa M. Knight? Well, I’m an author. Wow. After years and years of wanting to use those words, that is fun to say. It’s almost as fun as supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Did I spell that right?

I write contemporary romantic suspense.

I live in Chicagoland with my family and menagerie of four-legged friends. In my mind, these lovely animals do everything as they should. I’m the alpha, keeping peace and harmony amongst my humble servants. In real life, they own me. I’m the maid, here for their feeding pleasure. Well, that and to clean up their messes.

When not catering to the needs of adorably-furry faces, I slug through the nine to five grind and head home so I can write. Of course, that’s after I make dinner and clean the house and all the other tasks that go into family life. So really, I work, cater to animals and my family… and then, if I don’t fall face first into bed, I write. I love putting my characters into crazy situations and watching how they react. My Review - 4 of 5 stars -

Leti and Kevin were an interesting couple. It was fun as they acknowledged their attraction but tried not to give in. Surrounding their love story was the investigation and danger that came along with it. Watching as they worked together to solve it was definitely entertaining. The support characters like Chase and Enzo added to the story. I enjoyed this story.
