by Elizabeth Burns
GENRE: Children's Fiction
BLURB:
After being suddenly overcome by a mysterious case of the Chilly Willies, nine-year-old Victoria James navigates her way through a day as a fourth grader at Riverview Elementary School. With the help of her best friend Janie Finch, an oversized sweater, jumping jacks, and a spicy pickle sandwich, Victoria James just might defeat the Chilly Willies.
EXCERPT:
“Okay,” said Mrs. James, “give me a kiss and I will see you when you get home from school.”
Mrs. Bridges passed Mrs. James in the doorway as she left for work.
“Hello, girls!” exclaimed Mrs. Bridges. (Mrs. Bridges was always much too loud in the mornings.)
“Hello,” replied Victoria as she cleared her plate from the table. “Um, I have to go and get my school things together,” she said.
Victoria thought it best to avoid Mrs. Bridges until it was time to leave for school. She packed her school bag, grabbed her lunch from the fridge and shouted a quick “See you!” to Mrs. Bridges and Rebecca from the hallway as she headed out the door.

My Review - 5 of 5 stars -
I enjoyed all the attempts at helping Victoria cure the Chilly Willies. Some were inventive, and others were things we would normally offer. A simple solution mixed with love was a lovely way to end this story. The illustrations mirrored the story, adding to the draw of this read.
